Game Basics

Play Online RouletteRoulette is a slow-paced, soothing, leisurely game, the kind of game you might play while nursing a fine drink and wearing nice clothes. Roulette tables use their own chips, different from the chips used in the rest of the casino so the dealer can tell all of the players at the table apart.  It is a very easy game to learn, and that is why it is so popular, besides it is one of the simplest casino games to learn, consisting of 38 numbered slots, numbers 1 to 36, a zero, and a double zero.  Roulette players have the choice of betting on a color, number, odds/evens, and even a group of numbers.

The game of Roulette is a betting game where you chose the numbers that will come up on the red and black wheel as it spins around and then comes to a stop.  Despite the fact that they are a mess of numerical specifics, the great thing about Roulette that although it's so involved there are betting options and ways of going about playing the game that prevent it from becoming as complicated as some people say it is.  Don't forget, you can use the same roulette strategies on Internet Gambling Sites that you use in the brick and mortar Casinos.  This is so, because Roulette has a notoriously complex and dynamic number of betting options that dictate a lot of different sections and numbers on the game table, but we'll get to this later, don't be scared off though, it's not as complex as it sounds.

Rules

Roulette players have the choice of betting on a color, number, odds/evens, and even a group of numbers.  Bets are placed by putting chips of a particular monetary value, on a table decorated with a pattern of boxes and numbers.  Betting is broken down into two major categories, inside bets and outside bets.

The main pockets are numbered from 1 to 36 alternating between red and black, but the pockets are not in numerical order around the wheel, and there are instances of consecutive numbers being the same color.  Players can place a variety of 'inside' bets (selecting the number of the pocket the ball will land in, or range of pockets based on their position), and 'outside' bets (including bets on various positional groupings of pockets, pocket colors, or whether it is odd or even).

  • Split: a bet on two adjoining numbers, either on the vertical or horizontal (as in 14-17 or 8-9).  The chip is placed on the line between these numbers.

  • Street: a bet on three numbers on a single horizontal line.  Corner (or square): a bet on four numbers in a square layout (as in 11-12-14-15).

  • Sixline (or 'sixaine'): a bet on two adjoining streets, with the chip placed at the corresponding intersection, as if in between where two street bets would be placed.

  • Group Bets: a bet on the first, second, or third group of twelve numbers.

  • Column: a bet on all 12 numbers on any of the three vertical lines (such as 1-4-7-10 on down to 34).
